How to open Apple Music links on Android
Short answer
On Android without Apple Music, music.apple.com links open in the browser, where Apple asks you to sign in. Set SongFlip once as the app for that domain and choose your player – every Apple Music link then opens in Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer or Tidal with 0 taps. For a single link, the web demo converts it without installing anything. On iPhone the same works with 1 tap via the share menu.
Why Apple Music links are awkward on Android
Most music links have an Android app waiting for them. Apple Music links usually don't: unless you installed Apple Music for Android, your phone sends music.apple.com to Chrome or Samsung Internet. Apple's web player then asks for an Apple ID and, without a subscription, offers at most a short preview. Friends with iPhones often share these links straight from the Music app.
SongFlip takes over exactly this domain. It looks up which song, album or artist the link refers to and opens the same release in the player you actually use.
Setup: once, then forget it
- Install SongFlip from Google Play and pick your player – Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal or another supported service.
- The setup screen opens Settings → Apps → SongFlip → Open by default.
- Tap Add links and tick
music.apple.com. Tick the other source domains you want handled at the same time, e.g. Spotify links if you use YouTube Music. - Test it: tap an Apple Music link in WhatsApp or Telegram. Your player should start without a browser tab in between.
Your player app stays as it is – SongFlip only claims the domains of the services you don't use.
What happens in your situation
| Your setup | What to do |
|---|---|
| Apple Music not installed | Just tick music.apple.com in SongFlip's link settings. |
| Apple Music installed, but you don't use it | Uninstall it – the domain becomes free for SongFlip. |
| You use Apple Music now and then | Keep the app, switch off its Open supported links, and pause SongFlip with its Quick Settings tile when you want a link to stay in Apple Music. |
| Link opens inside Instagram or another in-app browser | Choose Open in browser or share the link to SongFlip. |
If music.apple.com is greyed out or Android keeps opening the browser, the guide on fixing “Open by default” walks through the Android settings step by step.
Converting a single Apple Music link
On a computer, or before you install anything, paste the link into the SongFlip web demo. It shows the matching links for Spotify, YouTube Music, Deezer, Tidal and Amazon Music, so you can open or forward the one you need.
Apple Music details that affect the result
- Country codes:
/us/or/de/in the link only show the sender's Apple storefront. Whether the song plays depends on its availability in your player, in your country. - Song vs. album: a link with
?i=at the end is a single track; without it you get the album. - Apple-only releases: exclusives and Apple's radio shows have no counterpart elsewhere, so they can't be opened in another player.
And on iPhone?
There the problem is reversed: Apple Music links always go to Apple's Music app. If you listen elsewhere, share the link to SongFlip (1 tap) – details in the guide open Apple Music links in Spotify.
